Mission Statement

As a Capeverdean woman who grew up loving horror, thrillers, sci-fi, and everything in between, and who was also raised in a culture that has deep ties with mysticism and the supernatural, I always wondered what it would be like to turn these fears and beliefs into pieces of fiction for the big screen. Africa holds a vastly unique and diverse folklore tradition, yet its representation in the thriller genre umbrella remains scarce. Despite being home to compelling supernatural lore, rich culture, and history, African mythology and stories have largely been ignored and often misrepresented by mainstream media, lacking an authentic African view and familiar approach to those issues.

This is where 32MM STUDIOS comes in. We do not seek to simply borrow from underrepresented cultures; we aim to explore them, understand them, and bring them to life with the nuance and respect they deserve through collaborations that bring authentic and unique points of view.

As a young founder, I also hope to challenge the stigma around age in filmmaking by collaborating with other emerging creatives who, like me, are eager to bring their visions to life in an industry that too often overlooks young voices, which are shaped by a unique generational perspective that can resonate deeply with today's globalized audiences.

Beyond our narrative films, we also feature a documentary branch that will explore the origins of these folk stories, delving into their cultural significance and historical roots. We believe that folklore is not just entertainment; it is a reflection of human psychology, values, and experiences. Through our documentaries, we seek to preserve and share these beliefs with the world in a dignified and well-informed way.

In addition to films, 32MM STUDIOS will expand into digital storytelling through a YouTube channel. The channel will serve as a platform for our audience to share their own unexplored folklore. We are also featuring an online content series, where we will write and post original stories in different formats for our community. Along with short stories, we will also have a fake newspaper on supernatural occurrences in our virtual city, "Old Town", an immersive world created for audiences to interact with our monsters and lore. Through these initiatives, we invite audiences to not just watch our films but to be part of this journey and see themselves in the horror genre in a way they never have before.
